Senior Master Sergeant Christopher H. Bailey and Grey Duck Garlic received an Air National Guard (ANG) Hometown Heroes Salute award from The National Guard Bureau.
The National Guard Bureau is the headquarters for the National Guard like the Pentagon is the headquarters for the Department of Defense. The award reads as follows:
An American Airman * Legacy of Valor Hometown Heroes Salute
In times of war and national emergency, our nation relies on the skilled Airmen of the Air National Guard to defend freedom around the world Citizen-Airmen are vital to our states during natural disasters and civil unrest. This dual role – both federal and state – has served as a source of great pride among Guard members for generations. This close relationship between the Air National Guard and the states helps knit together the fabric of the U.S. military, one of the most trusted institutions in the federal government.
Wherever freedom is threatened and liberty attacked, whenever there is a threat to our way of life, the American way of life, you are there, ever faithful, steadfast and ready to defend. Whether in times of peace or conflict, no matter how great or small the task, there you will most assuredly stand, never faltering, never failing.

At the bottom of the award are two coins and a metal plate. One coin shows the American Flag with a National Guard Minuteman that has the writing “Air National Guard” and “American Airman.” The second coin shows an American Eagle with a red ribbon, 9/11, and the Global War on Terrorism Medals with the writing “Hometown Heroes Salute” and “Wingman*Leader*Warrior.” The metal plate reads “ANG Hometown Heroes Salute” and “SMSgt Christopher Bailey.”
Senior Master Sergeant Christopher H. Bailey received this award for his involvement in the Washington Air National Guard and the several deployments in support of the War on Terrorism since 9/11. He has been to Turkey, Kuwait, and Iraq as well as many other places around the world. He also deployed to the Pullman Washington Airport in support of the Airport Security Measures that took place after 9/11.
We are proud of Chris’ prestigious award from the ANG and the support Grey Duck Garlic has given him during his deployments.

Jane Fluegel and Grey Duck Garlic received a Patriotic Employer Award
The award reads as follows:
The National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve recognizes Jane Fluegel Grey Duck Garlic as a Patriotic Employer for contributing to National Security and Protecting Liberty and Freedom by Supporting Employee Participation in America’s National Guard and Reserve Forces.

Jane received this award for her support of Senior Master Sergeant Christopher H. Bailey and his involvement in the Washington Air National Guard. Chris has deployed several times in support of the War on Terrorism since 9/11; including Turkey, Kuwait, Iraq, other countries, and exotic Pullman/Moscow Washington Airport.
